Recently booked a cut and blow dry. All going well until I was asked if I wanted my hair dried straight, and when I said 'wavy' she said she would use the straighteners to curl it after rough drying it. However I was then charged an extra £9 because she had used the straighteners. (could she not have used a big round brush?) when I explained I was a bit miffed as this wasnt clear I would be paying more. The manager insisted I pay the higher price. I will not be recommending or returning.
I recently visited Altered Image in Tring to have a relatively new treatment on my hair known as a permanent blow dry. The treatment originated in Brazil and is growing in popularity in the UK as it promises silky, frizz-free locks for up to three months. The conditioning treatment is applied to wet hair and then sealed in with straighteners, which can take around two hours. The worst thing about it is that after the application, the product must be left on the hair for five days, which means five days without washing your hair, or even putting it up. It's well worth feeling like a tramp for a few days though: my hair has been transformed from dry and frizz-prone to smooth and easy-to-style. Altered Image is one of the few salons in the area that does this treatment (apparently there's waiting lists at all the major salons in London) and the staff are all a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
